Introduction to World Fishing Exhibition (Vigo,Spain)

From September 16th to 19th 2009, at the IFEVI Exhibition Center, Cotogrande, Vigo, Spain, Vigo will once again play host to the most influential fishing exhibition. The World Fishing Exhibition Vigo 2009, the sixth to be held in this leading European fishing port, will be the framework within which to bring together innovative ideas and challenges posed by an increasingly more demanding fishing industry in this new century, as well as to set agendas for the future. The 2009 event is backed up by five previous and very successful events, landmarks in the evolution of the international fishing industry.

                                                 

As the headquarters of the fishing world, Situated to the South of the North-West peninsular, the Port of Vigo annually auctions around 90,000 tons of fresh fish at its installations in O Berbes. The cold storage capacity of Vigo and its environs is about 700.000 tons, giving Vigo a leading position in national terms. Fishing is Vigo's Alma Mater and this has given life to a vast industry in the town which includes shipyards, ancillary industries, commerce and distribution, cold storage, canning factories, fish products and marine cultivars.

 

Exhibition Centre, IFEVI is conveniently located next to Vigo’s Peinador Airport and is easily reached by a network of toll-free motorways which link Vigo to the rest of Spain and Portugal. IFEVI is only 10 minutes away from downtown Vigo and is well served by public transport (bus C9A) and taxi services, there is a taxi rank at IFEVI while an event is taking place.
